St. Mary, Netherbury
14th century Grade 1 listed church (with an earlier origin) looking down over the village from Tower Hill. Beautiful and inspiring view over local Dorset countryside.
New inspiration and ideas for visitors are introduced from time to time - recent provisions include a prayer pool, scallop shells (each having a different fruit of the Spirit for people to hold as they pray), and a folder containing prayers to take away. From Advent Sunday to Candlemas there was a 'Jesse Tree' with a different symbol for the genealogy from Adam to Jesus added each day, suggested readings with an explanation and the Bible open at the day's reading. From Candlemas the tree will become a 'Prayer Tree' until after Easter. For Lent (and beyond) there will also be footprints attached to the floor from the main entrance to the Church to the SPP with appropriate words on each footfall.
